Nigerian Muslims killed 20 Christians
On Sunday, Nigerian Muslim militants killed over 20 Christians in a Southern Kaduna city.
The Christians were just finishing their church service when the gunmen began their attack. The militants also burned the church building and many homes.
A source told International Christian Concern, “Militant herdsmen have entered Kagoro near the seminary, killing and burning the houses. Even the soldiers have run away because the attackers’ guns are superior to theirs. We are very much concerned for Kagoro, the center of Christianity in Southern Kaduna.”
According to Open Doors, Nigeria is the seventh worst nation in the world for the persecution of Christians.
10 million Ukrainian refugees have fled
The United Nations estimates that 10 million people have fled their homes in Ukraine with 3.5 million of them having left the country since Russia’s invasion.
Russian airstrikes turned Ukraine’s port city of Mariupol to ashes yesterday. Hundreds of thousands of people are reportedly trapped in the city. The Russian attack on the capital Kyiv has stalled as Ukrainian forces retook an important suburb of the city.
Meanwhile, Christian ministries continue to send aid to the refugees. Keith Townsend with International Cooperating Ministries told The Christian Post, “These churches and Hope Centers in western and southern Ukraine, in Romania and Moldova and other countries like that, are taking in the refugees. . . . It’s been a joy in the midst of all this tragedy to see how God’s people have responded.”
Psalm 146:9 says, “The LORD watches over the strangers; He relieves the fatherless and widow; but the way of the wicked He turns upside down.”
