I believe that one reason why the church of God at this present moment has so little influence over the world is because the world has so much influence over the church. ~Charles Spurgeon (1834-1892)

Global Christian Relief helped 10,000 displaced people in Manipur

The persecutions in Manipur, India have impacted 66,000 Christians. 1,750 houses were burned and 250 churches destroyed. At least 80 were killed.

Thanks to many donations coming from The Worldview audience and others, Global Christian Relief announced that they have already helped 10,000 displaced people in two relief centers.

Listen to the Christian refugees as they worship the Lord together, singing “What A Friend We Have in Jesus,” in the midst of their suffering.

Ghana penalizes anyone promoting homosexuality

Proverbs 14:34 states: “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.”

The African nation of Ghana is following Uganda’s example by stiffening penalties for the promotion and advocacy of homosexuality in the country. All 275 members of Parliament unanimously passed the bill, known as “The Promotion of Appropriate Sexual Rights and Family Values” bill.

The Ghana Supreme Court also ruled the bill constitutional. It’s expected to be signed into statutory law soon.

The bill sponsors are particularly concerned with the promotion of homosexuality and comprehensive sex ed programs taught in international schools operating in-country, reported the Ghana Standard.

Church soaring in Iran and Nepal, declining in U.S. & Western Europe

Where in the world is the Christian faith growing faster than ever?

Based on data obtained in a recent Pew Research study, the fastest growing Christian churches in the world — in which there is a rising importance of the Christian religion in people’s lives — are Nigeria, China, The Philippines, India, Brazil, and Indonesia.

Other studies have identified Iran and Nepal as areas in which the Christian church is growing fastest. Iran is now estimated to have 1,000,000 Christians, up from 100,000 twenty years ago.

Plus, in 1951, there were no Christians in Nepal and just 458 in 1961. Today, the most recent survey finds 512,000 Christians in Nepal.  Christian missionaries have specifically targeted Nepal, the birthplace of Buddha himself, reports the BBC.

Sadly, the Pew Research study found the Christian faith has been declining in the United States, Western Europe. Australia, and New Zealand.

Daniel 7:14 speaks of Jesus Christ  — “And to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him; His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and His kingdom one that shall not be destroyed.”

Christian soccer team in Nepal wins nationals

A Christian soccer team in Nepal, which has won all three national divisions three years in a row, was recently awarded the national trophy as “the number one soccer team in the nation.”

Founded by Christian Pastor Reuben Rye in 2009, the team is called “The Church Boys United.” Amazingly, 30 million Nepali watched the championship game in which the team pulled off the 3-division win. It was the first time this has been achieved in 37 years.

According to a report sent to The Worldview, Pastor Rye wrote, “The club will continue to participate in First Division League and Tournaments in Nepal and outside and continue to witness our faith and give glory to God.”

Americans losing confidence in college

Confidence in US colleges and universities has collapsed among Americans polled — now only 36%, down from 57% in 2015.

The drop was most pronounced among Republicans — only 19% still favoring colleges down from 56% back in 2015, according to Gallup polling.

Between 2011 and 2023, undergraduate enrollment, including 2-year colleges, has fallen from 20.1 million to 16.9 million. That’s a 15% drop.  Twelve years ago, 67% of college-age young people were attending undergraduate colleges. Now, that’s down to 50%.

America’s heat wave

It’s hot out there!

Arizona, Colorado, Oklahoma, Florida, Louisiana, and Wyoming have all experienced record-breaking temperatures over the last week or two.

Miami hit 16 days of hot weather, exceeding 105 degrees Fahrenheit.

And Phoenix, Arizona has now exceeded 23 days over 110 degrees — another record.  In fact, doctors in Arizona have treated a large number of people with severe burns — some requiring skin grafts — after they fell on hot pavement — some of which exceeded 180 degrees Fahrenheit, reports CNN.

Essential Church film: Gov’t cannot close our doors!

On Friday, July 28th, another Christian-produced movie is coming out. It’s called Essential Church.

Listen to this soundbite from the trailer.

TRAILER SOUNDBITE: “The Church says to every authoritarian government: ‘There is a code and authority higher than you.’”

Showing in select theaters in 43 states across the U.S., Essential Church tells the story of the battle between state tyranny and the church’s right and obligation to assemble and worship God.

Oregon Worldview listeners appreciate persecuted church stories

Tyrone and Kimberly in Lebanon, Oregon wrote me and said, “Our kids – Harold, Natalia, Payton, and Leena — emptied out their giving banks to join with the other listeners to keep The Worldview on the air. It was a joy today to sit with the kids as they counted out their money.

“When asked what they liked best about the broadcast, each kiddo said listening to the stories of other Christians in the world that are hurting is hard and sad to hear about. But they are so grateful to know about them, so they can pray for them.  My husband and I couldn’t agree more. We are all in prayer for other faithful listeners to join in giving this week to meet the financial goal!”

34 Worldview listeners gave $10,442.25

Over the last several days, 34 Worldview listeners donated toward our $80,000 goal by Monday, July 31st to keep this unique Christian newscast on the air for another year.

Our thanks to Carolyn in Wilmington, North Carolina who gave $20 as well as Janna in Midvale, Idaho, Jennifer in San Jose, California, Sheila in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, Samuel in Niceville, Florida, and Kim in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – each of whom gave $25.

We thank God for Arielle in Nyssa, Oregon who gave $30 as well as Tonia in Cove, Oregon, Jamey in Macon, Georgia, and Douglas and Yvonne in Cornwall, New York – each of whom gave $50, Kenneth in Dearborn Heights, Michigan who pledged $5/month for 12 months for a total gift of $60, and Jennie in Palmdale, California who gave $86.84 in memory of her brother, Larry, who went to be with Jesus last August 1st.

We are grateful for Tim in Cokato, Minnesota, Todd in Thousand Oaks, California, Glenda in Newberry, Florida, Charles in Talladega, Alabama, and Carson in Humboldt, Saskatchewan, Canada – each of whom gave $100 as well as Eben in Kansas City, Missouri who gave $125, and an anonymous donor who gave $127.

We were touched by the kindness of Max in Macon, Georgia, Robert in Salt Point, New York, Earl in Greenville, Florida, and Rose in Everson, Washington – each of whom gave $200, as well as Chad and Michelle and their four daughters — Karis, Nia, Kiersten, and Noel – in Akron, Ohio who collectively gave $245.80.

We appreciate David in Grand Rapids, Michigan and Jennifer in Manheim, Pennsylvania – both of whom pledged $25/month for 12 months for a total gift of $300 each as well as Michael and Stephanie in Estancia, New Mexico who gave $300, and Sherri in West Allis, Wisconsin who pledged $40/month for 12 months for a total gift of $480.

And we were blown away by the sacrifice of Tyrone and Kimberly in Lebanon, Oregon — along with their kids — Harold, Natalia, Payton, and Leena – who gave $525.61, William in Lees Summit, Missouri who pledged $50/month for 12 months for a total gift of $600, William in Castle Rock, Colorado who gave $1,000, Erin in La Junta, Colorado and an anonymous donor – both of whom pledged $100/month for 12 months for a total gift of $1,200 each, and Meggan in Register, Georgia who gave $2,267.

Those 34 new donations add up to $10,442.25. Ready for our new grand total? Drum roll please. (Drum roll sound effect) $62,128.41 (Crowd cheering sound effect)

Wow!  That is the single best update since the start of this fundraising campaign on July 4th.  In order to hit the $80,000 goal by Monday, July 31st, we still need to raise $17,871.59.

That means we need to find 5 more people to pledge $100/month, 9 more people to pledge $50/month, and 18 more to pledge $25/month.

Just go to TheWorldview.com and click on “Give” at the top right to give what the Lord is prompting you to donate.  Make sure to select the “Recurring” tab, if that’s your wish.
