(Worthy News) – Boko Haram terrorists on Wednesday murdered at least four civilians in the far north of Cameroon, a region where Christians are frequently attacked by Islamic militants who want to rid the nation of “infidels,” International Christian Concern (ICC) reports. Cameroon ranks 42 on the US Open Doors Watch List 2021 of top 50 countries where Christians are persecuted.
In a statement about last week’s attack, the mayor of the city of Mokolo, Vohot Deguime, said: “On Wednesday around 8pm (local time), Boko Haram terrorists arrived in Tourou township and shot dead three men and a woman, and wounded four others before [crossing the border to] Nigeria.”
Cameroon has seen an increase in violence and, according to ICC, this coincides with an ongoing internal battle between anglophone and francophone citizens. “The ‘Anglophone Crisis’ started in 2017, when separatists in Cameroon began trying to create a new nation known as Ambazonia,” ICC explains in its report.
