The Republican Party’s transformation into the unabashedly Christian Party is nearly complete.
The Founders may have been suspicious of political parties, but even they understood their value in a representative system of government. Whether we want to accept it or not, from Rome to the Italian city-states to the British parliament, party politics has always been the norm wherever elections are held and likely always will be.
That’s why the inner struggles within major parties are just as consequential as those playing out during general elections, and the GOP has been the subject of a significant shift in recent years that will have huge ramifications for local and national politics.
